'Hawks win 6-5 in OT to even series at 2

BOSTON (AP) After struggling for more than 120 minutes to score even once, the Blackhawks beat Boston goalie Tuukka Rask a half-dozen times in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals to send the series back to Chicago tied two games apiece.

Now that's an Original Six.

Brent Seabrook's slap shot 9:51 into overtime gave the Blackhawks a 6-5 victory on Wednesday night, restoring the home-ice advantage to the Western Conference champions. Game 5 is Saturday night in Chicago, with Game 6 back in Boston on Monday.

Flyers set to buy out Briere's contract

(AP) -- Forward Danny Briere is preparing to become an unrestricted free agent as part of the Philadelphia Flyers' offseason shakeup of their high-priced roster.

A person familiar with discussions confirmed on Wednesday that Briere has been informed by the Flyers that they intend to buy out the final two years of his contract. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Flyers have not announced their decision.

Wings unveil $650M plan for new arena

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Red Wings and city officials on Wednesday announced a $650 million plan for a new arena development for the NHL team in Detroit's downtown entertainment and sports district.

Plans for an 18,000-seat arena were announced by the team's owners and local economic development officials. Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch has long said he wanted a replacement for the 32-year-old Joe Louis Arena.

Wings give Datsyuk $22.5M, 3-year deal

DETROIT (AP) The Detroit Red Wings accomplished their No. 1 goal of the offseason Tuesday by agreeing to a $22.5 million, three-year deal with Pavel Datsyuk.

"It's a great day for the Red Wings," general manager Ken Holland said in a telephone interview. "He's is a world-class player and there are no moves I can make to find players like Pavel Datsyuk."
